Mittal Steel USA Leases 53,484 Sq.Ft. for New Corporate Headquarters at Hines' One South Dearborn Office Project in Downtown Chicago

(CHICAGO) – Taking the project pre-leasing level to 90 percent, Mittal Steel USA has signed a lease for 53,484 square feet at One South Dearborn in downtown Chicago, according to Hines, the developer of the 820,000-square-foot office highrise under construction at the corner of Madison and Dearborn. The 40-story tower, scheduled for completion in December, will be anchored by the law firm of Sidley Austin Brown and Wood LLP.
Mittal Steel USA, a subsidiary of the Mittal Steel Company which is ranked the world’s largest steel producer, has leased space at One South Dearborn for a relocation of corporate headquarters from Richfield Township, Ohio in suburban Cleveland. Occupancy is scheduled for January 2006. A Mittal sales and marketing group currently based at 30 W. Monroe in downtown Chicago also will be relocated to the new headquarters. Mittal was represented in the site selection and long-term lease transaction by Todd Lippman, an executive vice president at CB Richard Ellis. Hines was represented in-house by Greg Van Schaack, a senior vice president, and Jim Walsh, senior project manager; both based at its Chicago regional office.
Mittal Steel Co., the parent company of Mittal USA, has manufacturing plants in 14 countries and some 164,000 employees worldwide. In the Chicago area, Mittal research and production facilities are located in East Chicago, Ind.. Hines, one of the largest real estate organizations in the world, has offices in 63 U.S. cities and 13 foreign countries, and controlled assets valued at approximately $11 billion. Privately held, Hines is involved in real estate investment, development and property management worldwide. Its Chicago area office property portfolio tops eight million square feet.
